Week Twenty-Nine: A Peaceful Heart

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” — Isaiah 26:3

Perfect peace is promised to the one whose mind is stayed on the Lord, because he trusts in Him. Peace does not come from circumstances being under our control, but from fixing our thoughts on an unchanging God. When the mind wanders into fear, anxiety rises. When the mind rests on Him, peace ensues.

We often try to calm ourselves by solving every possible problem in advance. Yet peace is not found in endless analysis. It is found in trust! To “stay” the mind means to intentionally set it, return it, and anchor it again and again on God’s character and promises.

When anxious thoughts come—and yes, they will try to take over today— redirect them to the Lord. Fall back on the sure foundation of His promises, remember His faithfulness, and trust His wisdom. A guarded mind becomes the pathway to a settled, peaceful heart.
