Week Twenty-Eight: One Step At A Time

“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105

God’s Word is described as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Do you notice that the light is expressed only so far? It is not the bright spotlight we would prefer to see, illuminating the next 1,000 steps, but enough light for the next step at least. God leads us faithfully by teaching us to trust Him daily rather than satisfying our preference of seeing the whole road ahead.

Many believers become frustrated because they want the complete picture before they obey. But the Lord guides one step at a time, whereby we must walk by faith, knowing what we do know now that we can trust will be sufficient in the future. As we walk in the light we have, He gives more light for the road ahead. His Word steadies us when emotions shift and circumstances confuse.

If you need direction, open your Bible before you embark on your worries. Let God’s truth shape your thinking and decisions, for His Word will illuminate dark places and lead willing hearts safely forward.
