Week Thirty-Three: He Holds The Future

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11

God told His people in exile that He knew the plans He had for them—plans for peace and hope, not for evil. Though they were in a difficult season, God had not abandoned His purpose. Though his people could not see the full picture, He already held the future.

We often mistake God’s delay for His denial. When life feels disappointing, we may assume God has forgotten us. Yet His plans are not erased by present hardship. He works even in seasons that seem confusing or painful. In fact, think for a moment of the most painful thing you have endured and consider how many prayers would not have gone up to heaven had it not been for the trial. It is uncomfortable when we are stretched beyond limit, but we become more spiritually strong that we might be a blessing to comfort others (2 Corinthians 1).

If you are in a waiting season, take heart. God knows what He is doing even when you do not. Trust His wisdom, keep obeying, and put all your hope in Him!
